Day 18 - June 19, 2012
Bullhead City, AZ to Glendale, AZ
261.8 miles

At 0500 I was up and ready to go. By 0625 I was underway. It was so hot I stowed my leather jacket for the first time of the adventure and put on the cooling vest over a long sleeved T-shirt. I knew I needed to go south on Hwy 95 in Arizona, but somehow I ended up a few miles west on Hwy 95 in California. It was no great travesty, but I sure don’t know how I got there. As it turned out I got to see some old Route 66 history on the way.

At 0940 I had got to Quartzsite, AZ and called Larry Tank to let him know where I was. It was roasting hot on the freeway and I stopped at a rest area and took off the long sleeved T-shirt and soaked it in the sink. It felt like air conditioning for the next few miles until all the water had evaporated out of it. I made it to Larry’s house shortly after noon and met him and his lovely wife. They were exceptional hosts, gave me some outstanding accommodations, took me to dinner and most importantly, had plenty of golden throat dust remover, which I desperately needed after 261.8 miles. They are great people and I thoroughly enjoyed staying with them while on my adventure.
