Day 20 - June 21, 2012
Las Cruces, NM to Del Rio, TX
484.6 miles

I was up at 0350, showered and loaded the bike. I hung around as it was still dark and didnít want to attempt getting through El Paso traffic with limited visibility.

At 0515 I headed east. Iím glad I waited because like any major city the interstate traffic was unnerving to me. Fortunately I was able to blast through at around 70 MPH, but it still seemed to take forever. When the vast expanse of west Texas appeared I felt a lot better. The speed limit was 80 so you can make pretty good time.

At 0700 I was at Fort Hancock and rode through town, took a couple of pictures and got some chow. I couldnít imagine that speed on the interstate for hundreds of miles so I turned off on Hwy 90 at 0850. This turned out to be the perfect road to do the majority of my 484.6 miles on. It was free of almost any traffic, good asphalt and 70-75 mph speed limits. Just the kind of wide open scenery I like and having the road to myself.

By 1600 I was ready to stop for the day and holed up in a motel to relax and continue the adventure in the morning.
